The fit-out of an entire floor (combining 3 apartments) in a new residential building, in shell and core condition, to form a deluxe apartment for Renaissance Real Estate. The interior design was prepared by Smiros & Smiros of New York.
The Task: To combine three apartments near Gorky Park for a young American couple with four children
Our Approach: We adapted a Park Avenue pre-war apartment plan, creating an elliptical foyer as lynch pin to four "wings". The marquetry compass rose in the foyer floor helps to orientate inhabitants and visitors toward the various zones (elevator lobby / entertaining spaces / bedrooms / service areas). Given the age of the parents and children, comfort and function were paramount. So we mixed Deco and Biedermeier antiques (typical of the pre-war era) with custom furniture, such as a Smith & Watson dining table. And we incorporated unexpected details, like a breakfast nook in the kitchen with aquariums set into the facing walls. Fine millwork and built-in bookcases (other Park Avenue, pre-war apartment details) complete the look and handsomely frame a collection of Russian contemporary art.
Subsequent to this project we undertook another project, in conjunction with the same "team", to build and fit-out a New England style house in Zhukovka / Barvikha.
We also, for the same Client, were appointed on a negotiated contract basis, to undertake restoration and reconstruction works to his house located close to Rubelovskoe-Uspenskoe Schosse. The works involved the provision & installation of 2 jazuzzi''s, one next to the swimming pool, the other in the en-suite facilities of the master bedroom, repairs to existing parquet flooring, walls and ceilings throughout the house, and the installation of new carpeting.
